Thanks for the reply

here is the code, it is based on one of the examples.

function init() {
  var map = new OpenLayers.Map('map');

  var layers = new OpenLayers.Layers.WMS(
    "basic",
    "http://localhost:8080/geoserver/wms",
    {layers: 'topp:states'}

  map.addLayers(layers);
  map.zoomToMaxExtent();
}

Could you post your javascript code?
Then I can have a look.
you always can use demo page of geoserver as sample.
you can see how the layer configed.

All the best

Hi

I found a question of your at http://openlayers.org/pipermail/tilecache/2008-July/001197.html. I'm having the same problem, I think. My geoserver is working but when i try to display a map using openlayers all I get is the navigation stuff and a css border.

My undestanding is that you don't need to do any configuration on the geoserver for wms. is this correct.

What am i missing?

Hi Xiaoyu,

Yes, with $300 you can have experience of solid state pc, which is the cheapest way. You are right, battery life is important for mobility. I would like to buy a netbook, if it contain WWAN module. Actually, I already saw some manufacotry start supply this module for netbook. If I have this netbook, it is good reason to get rid of my mobile phone. Price is quite high for me. I would like to buy 13" laptop if I have enough money, 13" laptop have much higher performance and battery life. Nobody want to use a 1.6GHz CPU to process multi task, especially, I am used to open a lot of tabs of Firefox, and running other applications. Netbook, in my opinion, is still a good second-pc for travel.

I like the idea of a solid state netbook that is cheap, extremely light, long battery life and adequate for web browsing, email, simple doc preparation. However, I'm disappointed with the battery life of my recently purchased eeepc and you are correct that the keyboard and screen size make it quite unpleasant to do much on it.

I feel there is a niche for the netbook, but that the currently available models are still not quite filling it (particularly with regard to battery life).

BTW, I like the cheap aspect because I don't need to stress so much about whether something happens to a netbook when I'm travelling. The $300USD price point makes it trivial to replace if lost/broken/stolen while travelling.

Hi Roman
I know what you mean. building arrows on some one way road. Unfortunately, I dont know how to do it in SLD now. Can you just write a new rule for ExternalGraphic on top of one way road? When I build railway SLD, I know you can use some externalgraphics.
Here some link maybe you can use
you can find offical icons of OSM here, which including arrows
http://tile.openstreetmap.nl/~panman/styledit/

mapnik's style codes:

      [oneway] = 'yes' or [oneway] = 'true' or [oneway] = '1'
      25000

      [oneway] = '-1'
      25000

I think you can do it in SLD.Goodluck.

All the best

I'm lover of Geoserver (but not Mapserver) too. And I'm impressed your osm-style SLD implementation so much. But I have Geoserver/Geotools rendering problem.

If you take a look at any part of map rendered under OpenLayers client you can see very important road element - arrow which tightly belonging with traffic flow direction for particular road element, such as ramp or one way roads.

I tried to create directional arrows by utilizing sld:GraphicStroke - more detail - sld:ExternalGraphic but final rendering was very ugly.
When I tried to use arrow as symbol (Wingding3 letter g) with standard text symbolizer the Geoserver (precisely Geotool ) rendering engine in same cases starts to rotate that in vrong traffic direction.

Do you know how fix that type of problem.

Thanks,
Roman
